The Academy tests all its instructors in person for the ability
to execute and explain the deadlift and its many variations.

We do not recognize certifications from other organizations,
because they indicate only conceptual knowledge and rote
memorization.  Effective education calls for experience and
skill. Strength instructors must be strong. They must also be
able to understand the learning process and guide students.

Our testing and training process ensures that all instructors
are competent, effective teachers and good communicators.
In order to account for natural differences in experience and
expertise, the Academy has developed an objective ranking
system that guarantees consistency and quality in education:

Authorized to teach all 100-level programs.
►     Proficient in at least 4 styles of deadlift, including:
          Regular or sumo-style deadlift

   Swing
►     Deadlift 2.0x body weight or 450 lbs, whichever is less

Authorized to teach all 100- and 200- level programs.
►     Proficient in at least 8 styles of deadlift, including:
          Regular and sumo-style deadlift

  ►    Swing and Snatch
►     Deadlift 2.5x body weight or 525 lbs, whichever is less

Authorized to teach all 100-, 200-, and 300-level programs;
administer certification exams and operate a field school.
►     Proficient in all styles of deadlift
►     Deadlift 2.0x body weight 10x in less than 20 seconds
►     Deadlift 3.0x body weight or 600 lbs, whichever is less

As part of our mission to make vital knowledge accessible to
everyone, we are always searching for enthusiastic, capable,
articulate people who want to work for the Deadlift Academy
as independent
Certified Strength Instructors.

You can become an instructor by successfully completing a
strength, technique and communications exam, followed by
apprenticed participation in an assigned class at each level
to learn our instruction methods.  The exam can be taken at
our location or at your own location for an additional fee:

Examination Fee, any level………$100
Custom Location Surcharge……..$0.50/mi
Teaching Apprenticeship…………Free of charge

Candidates are expected to be proficient in strength training
and specifically deadlift execution. Casual lifting experience,
regardless of strength, size, or theoretical knowledge, is not
likely to qualify for any rank.

If you think you’ve got the skills and personality to represent
America’s premier strength training organization and wish to
join the ranks of our exceptional instructors, then be sure to
get in touch with us. The future of humanity depends on you!

Unlike organizations that depend on revenue from obligatory
“re-certifications”, the Deadlift Academy certification is for life.
As our instructors and students know well, strength skills last
a lifetime.  The foundation of strength and fitness is as old as
time and impervious to fads in exercise and the ways of man.
